An Event to Enjoy Korean Traditional Culture Will Be Held in Japan

To mark the 60th anniversary of Korea-Japan diplomatic normalization, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism announced that it will hold the ‘Hands of Tradition, Meeting Today’ event at the Korean Cultural Center in Tokyo from the 18th of this month to April 2, in collaboration with the Korea Craft and Design Foundation and the Korean Cultural Center in Japan.

The event, aimed at bridging the traditional cultures of Korea and Japan, will feature four main programs: △'Connecting Paper and Culture,' an exhibition and seminar on Korean and Japanese traditional paper; △'Connecting Korean Food and Warmth,' an exhibition on Korean food culture and an experience of the renowned Korean restaurant 'Yun-ga'; △'Connecting Hanbok and Time,' a Hanbok exhibition and experience event; and △'Connecting Generations through Play,' an exhibition and experience of traditional games.
Additionally, on the 19th, an opening ceremony will be held with the participation of government officials, cultural and artistic representatives, and academic figures from both countries. Traditional snacks from both countries will be served, and the celebration will feature a gayageum solo performance of "Pine" composed by Miki Minoru, a traditional Korean dance performance "Chun-aengmu," and a Hanbok fashion show.
