Director Bong Joon-ho’s Hollywood film Mickey 17 is ending its theatrical run just a month after release due to poor performance, and will soon move to a streaming platform.

According to Amazon Prime Video, Mickey 17 will begin streaming on April 7. The film earned $44.68 million in North America and $77.7 million overseas, totaling $122.38 million in global revenue. In Korea, it drew 2.99 million viewers and earned about 29.6 billion KRW but fell short of expectations.
The film's production budget was $118 million (excluding marketing), with an additional $80 million spent on marketing. The estimated break-even point was around $300 million, suggesting a current loss of over $80 million.
Critics and audiences gave lukewarm reviews from the start, with scores of 77% (critics) and 73% (audiences) on Rotten Tomatoes—significantly lower than Bong’s previous works. The streaming rights likely won't compensate for box office losses, making a large deficit inevitable.
