Incheon Airport Corporation announced on the 14th that it has carried out focused safety inspections on major airport facilities to prepare for safety accidents and fire hazards during the spring thaw season.

During the thaw season, significant temperature fluctuations cause water absorbed into the ground to freeze and thaw repeatedly, weakening the ground. This increases the likelihood of various safety accidents, making regular safety inspections of vulnerable facilities necessary.

As a result, the corporation formed a joint on-site safety inspection team with its subsidiaries and conducted a focused safety inspection of key airport facilities within the airport protection zone over a five-day period from the 10th to the 14th.

The main inspection items included: ▲ Ground subsidence and slope stability at aircraft parking areas (aircraft movement and parking zones) ▲ Cracks in structures and expansion joints ▲ Compliance with safety rules and equipment by workers.

Additionally, due to the dry weather in spring, which increases the risk of fires, the corporation completed a thorough inspection of 67 hazardous material storage and handling areas within Incheon Airport, including control towers and power plants, from February 17th to March 10th, checking the installation of firefighting equipment.
