<Korea Info>“Hot Place” on the Han River Bridge, 4 observatory cafes reopened!

The city of Seoul announced that it has fully renovated the observation cafes on the Han River’s Hangang, Hannam, and Yanghwa Bridges and will officially begin operations on the 24th.

To boost the management of these observation cafes located on bridges over the Han River, Seoul conducted a public bidding process in May of this year. Through this process, the local brands "Urban Plant" and "Café Jinjeongson" were selected as operators.

The cafes in question are the Kenwoo Café on Hangang Bridge, Semar Café on Hannam Bridge, and two locations on Yanghwa Bridge—Sonyu Café and Yanghwa Café.

Urban Plant will be responsible for managing the Kenwoo Café on Hangang Bridge and the Semar Café on Hannam Bridge, while Café Jinjeongson will manage Sonyu Café and Yanghwa Café on Yanghwa Bridge.

A representative from the Seoul government explained, “We actively incorporated feedback from private companies during the planning and design stages of the renovation, ensuring that the brand identities were fully realized.” The names of the cafes will also reflect the names of these private brands.

The Urban Plant locations on Hangang and Hannam bridges will be themed as indoor urban gardens, functioning as brunch cafés. They will offer a variety of brunch options and meals using fresh ingredients from local farms, following eco-friendly principles, and specially tailored to the Han River setting.

Café Jinjeongson has designed the Yanghwa Bridge locations so that visitors can enjoy tea or coffee while watching the sunset over the Han River.

The Yanghwa Café, located upstream on the southern end of Yanghwa Bridge, will operate as "Café Jinjeongson Yanghwa Bridge East Branch," while the downstream Sonyu Café will be known as "Café Jinjeongson Yanghwa Bridge West Branch." The East Branch will serve as a tea house with a focus on blends prepared by baristas, and the West Branch will function as a coffee house.
