<Korea Info> "Squid Game" Season 2 Release Date Announced!

Netflix announced on January 1 that "Squid Game" Season 2 will be released on December 26, and also announced that Season 3, the final chapter of the series, will be released next year.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the director of "Squid Game," shared his thoughts on the release of Season 2 and Season 3 consecutively in a letter on that day.

Director Hwang began his letter with the phrase, "The real game begins." He expressed his elation by saying, "I am very happy to announce to you the release date of Season 2 and the production news of Season 3.

He continued, "Song Ki-hoon, who announced his revenge at the ending of Season 1, is back in the game. Will he succeed in getting revenge? The show also announced that the new participants will be competing against each other from Season 2 to Season 3.

Along with director Hwang's introduction, a still of Lee Jung-jae, who plays "Gihoon," the main character in "Squid Game," was also released.

Unlike his appearance at the end of Season 1, just before boarding the plane to the U.S., his shortened black hair and green jersey with the number 456 on it indicate that he is back in the game. Having stopped on his way to see his daughter as the sole survivor and winner of Season 1, interest is growing as to why and how he will rejoin the game and how the story of the new "squid game" in which he participates will unfold.
