<Korea Info> Korean Air stops providing cup noodles

Updated: Aug 7

Korean Air announced on January 1 that it will reorganize its in-flight snack service on long-haul flights starting on the 15th of this month and will stop offering cup noodles in economy class, replacing them with a variety of snacks such as sandwiches and hot dogs.

Korean Air explains that this is to prevent burn accidents caused by cup noodle soup in the cabin.

In recent years, the occurrence of turbulence has more than doubled, causing the aircraft to shake violently, and burn accidents frequently occurred when soup was spilled. He explains that in economy class, crew members have to carry several cups of noodles poured with boiling water at a time, and passengers are sitting close together, which increases the risk of burns.

Korean Air plans to discontinue its cup noodle service in economy class on long-haul flights, instead offering new in-flight snacks such as hot dogs, pizza, and hot pockets in addition to the previously offered sandwiches.

Starting on the 15th of this month, flights departing from Korea will be equipped with Hot Dogs or Pizza, and flights departing from overseas will be equipped with Hot Pockets.
