<Korea News> South Korea's Railway Workers Union to Go on Strike Starting on the 18th “Train Delays Inevitable”.

The National Railroad Workers' Union has announced a strike starting on the 18th, demanding solutions to workforce shortages and a flat 2.5% increase in base pay. As a result, delays in train operations, including Seoul Metro and KTX services, are expected.

On the 17th, Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) issued a public notice stating, "Some train operations may be delayed. Please take this into account when planning to use train services."


According to KORAIL, delays are particularly likely in the Seoul Metro system. In addition, general trains and KTX services are also expected to experience some disruptions.


A KORAIL representative explained, "While we currently have no plans to reduce train operations, predicting delay durations is challenging. Therefore, we issued this notice to encourage citizens with urgent plans to consider alternative transportation options."
