Seven-Eleven Korea announced on the 6th that it has introduced a "controlled-temperature food model," allowing convenient foods like triangular rice balls to be enjoyed warm without reheating.
The product is kept at 20°C throughout all stages—production, packaging, distribution, and sale. A dedicated area in the factory maintains specific temperature and humidity levels to prevent spoilage.
Stores are equipped with display units that keep rice balls at 20°C, and to preserve freshness, distribution time has been cut to one-third of the previous timeframe.
Rice balls are transported in specially insulated boxes that maintain 20°C and must be sold within 24–26 hours after display. Items past their freshness expiration are discarded.
Currently in a trial phase, this model is limited to 21 stores in Seoul, offering 20 types of items, including rice balls, though bento-style meals are not yet available.
