The "2024 Korea Sale Festa" (Kosepe), Korea’s largest shopping event and often dubbed the Korean version of Black Friday, has officially launched, with a record-breaking 2,600 companies participating this year. Expectations are high that the event will help stimulate domestic consumption.
The sale runs for 22 days, from November 9 to November 30, while discounts in sectors like automotive and electronics kicked off early on November 1.
This year’s Korea Sale Festa features over 2,600 companies from the distribution, manufacturing, and service industries. Participating companies are offering substantial discounts across various categories, including daily necessities (such as food, fashion, clothing, toys, and household items), durable goods (such as cars, electronics, and tires), and culture and leisure (including accommodations, amusement parks, learning materials, dining, and cinemas), aiming to revive the dampened consumer sentiment.
Both online and offline retailers are rolling out their own sales events, such as Shinsegae’s "SSG Day" (November 1–10) and Lotte’s "Thank You Day" (October 31–November 13). The automotive and electronics industries have also ramped up their discounts, with a wider range of models and higher discount rates compared to last year. Hyundai has expanded its discounted models to 24, while Kia has increased its range to eight models. GM Korea is also offering steeper discounts than in previous years.
New participants in this year’s Korea Sale Festa include accommodation companies (Hanwha Resort, Daemyung Sono Felice), amusement parks (Lotte World), educational materials companies (Kyowon, Wink), and vertical platform companies (Baemin, Today’s House, Market Kurly), providing consumers with a broader experience of discounts in their daily lives.
Details on participating companies and specific discounts can be found on the official Korea Sale Festa website.
