The Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, along with the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, announced that they will be hosting the "2024 Korean Wave Lifestyle Culture Festival: Mokkoji Korea" at Budapest Park in Hungary from October 5th to 6th.
"Mokkoji Korea" is an event that started in 2020 with the goal of deepening cultural understanding between nations through the Korean Wave (Hallyu) and expanding fans' interest from popular culture to everyday lifestyle culture. It has since been held in nine countries, including Kazakhstan, Myanmar, and the Philippines.
This year, the event will take place in Hungary, the cultural hub of Central Europe, where interest in the Korean Wave is high, but large-scale K-pop concerts and Hallyu events have been relatively scarce.
The K-pop concert on October 6th will feature performances by Sunmi, AB6IX, and Dreamcatcher. This will be the first time a large-scale concert with such popular groups has been held in Hungary.
The venue will also offer a variety of exhibitions and interactive spaces.
Attendees can enjoy a Korean cultural quiz show, a Korean cooking show, exhibits combining K-content with Korean cuisine, and hands-on experiences with Korean beauty, fashion, dramas, and traditional games.
In addition, seven public organizations will present unique K-culture programs.
The Korean Cultural Center in Hungary will host traditional cooking demonstrations and a K-pop experience event, while the Korea Tourism Organization will promote famous tourist destinations in Korea. The King Sejong Institute Foundation will offer Hangeul learning experiences and Korean food tastings, while the Korean Culture and Information Service will showcase traditional culture through virtual reality (VR). The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) will support the promotion of Korean companies and products.
