The annual revenue of Korea’s "digital creator media industry," which involves the creation and distribution of personal broadcasts and other digital content, has surpassed 5 trillion won.
On the 26th, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced the results of the "2024 Digital Creator Media Industry Survey," which provides an overview of the current state of the industry in Korea.
According to the survey, the number of businesses operating in the digital creator media sector in Korea reached 13,514, generating a combined annual revenue of 5.3159 trillion won—an impressive 28.9% increase compared to the previous year. The number of businesses also grew by 21.5% year-on-year.
Additionally, the industry employs a total of 42,378 people, with individuals under 30 years of age accounting for 58.7% of the workforce, highlighting the significant participation of young professionals.
In terms of content categories, lifestyle content, including fashion and beauty, accounted for the largest share at 36.5%. This was followed by educational and informational content at 26.6% and hobby-related content, such as travel, at 22.7%.
Regarding platform usage, YouTube dominated with a 68.1% market share, followed by Instagram at 10.8% and NAVER TV at 7.3%.
