<Korean News> Due to the prolonged heat wave, the Han River pool will be open until the end of August next year.

Ttukseom Pool

The Seoul Metropolitan Government has announced that the Ttukseom Pool and Jamsil Water Park along the Han River will extend their operations until the end of August starting next year.

Previously, the Ttukseom Pool and Jamsil Water Park closed on August 18th. However, considering the recent increase in heatwaves and tropical nights, the decision has been made to extend their operation period.

To help citizens who struggle to sleep during tropical nights, the city plans to operate the pools during nighttime as well.

This year, approximately 44,000 citizens enjoyed nighttime water activities along the Han River, accounting for about 14% of the total 311,000 visitors. If the Ttukseom Pool and Jamsil Water Park, which were operated until 8 PM this year, are extended to 10 PM, the number of visitors is expected to increase further.

Next year, the city plans to install lighting equipment for nighttime operations at all pools, provide a safe environment for users, and add landscape lighting to create a resort-like atmosphere.

Jamsil Water Park

Last November, the Jamsil Water Park was renovated into a nature-themed water park and reopened in June this year. Over 55,000 citizens visited to enjoy the summer. Starting in September, it will be reopened as a park, providing a relaxing space that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to start with the Jamsil Water Park and gradually renovate the aging pools in Hangang Park (Gwangjin, Jamwon, and Mangwon), which have been in operation for 30 years.

Additionally, the city plans to expand various cultural programs, such as “Hangang Cinema Pondan,” where visitors can watch movies while floating on tubes, and “Hangang Music Pondan,” where they can enjoy live music in an infinity pool.
