<Korean News> Extreme heat even delays start time of professional baseball games.

Due to the ongoing heatwave during the Chuseok holiday in mid-September, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) has decided to delay the start times of the games on the 18th.

Fans eagerly cheering in the heat of the day.

The KBO announced on the 17th that, considering the safety of players and spectators, the start times for the three games scheduled for 2 PM on the 18th—LG Twins vs. Lotte Giants (Busan Sajik Stadium), Samsung Lions vs. kt wiz (Suwon KT Wiz Park), and Hanwha Eagles vs. NC Dinos (Changwon NC Park)—will be changed to 5 PM.

The KBO added that they will continue to prioritize the safety of players and spectators and operate the league flexibly.

Officials sprinkle water on the field during a game between KIA and SSG at Incheon SSG Landers Field on March 17.

After the hot season (July-August), the start times for professional baseball games were scheduled to return to 2 PM on Sundays and holidays and 5 PM on Saturdays from September. However, due to the ongoing heatwave during the Chuseok holiday, with perceived temperatures exceeding 35 degrees, there were safety concerns about dehydration and heatstroke for players, umpires, and spectators if games were held at 2 PM.
