<Korean News> How much is the most expensive Christmas cake in Korea?

Although expensive, the intense competition for high-end hotel Christmas cakes, known for being in high demand and difficult to obtain at the end of the year, is heating up. Among this year’s Christmas cakes, the most expensive one has been confirmed to reach 400,000 won (approximately $330).

<The Taste of Luxury>

On the 25th, the Shilla Hotel in Seoul announced that it would release four types of holiday special cakes for a limited time during the year-end season.

The most expensive of these, The Taste of Luxury, has increased in price from 300,000 won (approximately $250) last year to 400,000 won (approximately $330), making it the most expensive cake currently available from luxury hotels.

The Taste of Luxury is a cake made with truffles and Château d'Yquem, a renowned French dessert wine. The hotel stated that this year, the amount of truffles used has been increased by 25% compared to last year.

A Shilla Hotel representative commented, “The holiday special cakes were developed to meet the unique year-end demand. From the research and development stage to ingredient selection and advanced crafting techniques, tremendous time and effort go into making each cake.”
