The Hyundai Motor Group of South Korea announced the release of a campaign video titled "10M March," showcasing the use of the "X-ble MEX" walking rehabilitation robot to support the recovery of injured soldiers. The video is available on the group's official YouTube channel.
The video was produced in collaboration with the Armed Forces Medical Command, inspired by the idea that the hospital corridors soldiers walk down for daily rehabilitation can feel like a long and grueling march.
It features scenes of wounded soldiers undergoing intense rehabilitation using the X-ble MEX.
Traditionally, as patients repeatedly walked down hospital corridors during rehabilitation, fatigue would accumulate, placing significant physical strain not only on the patients but also on the medical staff assisting them. However, with the introduction of the X-ble MEX, the physical burden on both patients and medical staff has been reduced, allowing for safer rehabilitation.
Developed by Hyundai Motor Group’s Robotics Lab at its R&D headquarters, the X-ble MEX is designed for lower body rehabilitation, providing the necessary support for patients to balance while walking. It reduces the risk of falling backward during rehabilitation, ensuring a safer environment.
The robot also aids various movements such as sitting, standing, walking, turning left or right, and climbing stairs, significantly improving the efficiency of the rehabilitation process.
The narration for this campaign video is provided by Lee Ji-hoon, a national hero who overcame injuries sustained during military service and won a bronze medal in ice hockey at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Paralympics.
Additionally, the video incorporates 1,026 messages of support from citizens, collected through social media.
