According to the National Assembly’s Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Committee on the 6th, Jeju Air experienced maintenance-related delays in 536 out of 52,883 flights operated during the first half of last year. Of these, 344 were domestic flights and 192 were international flights.

Jeju Air’s figures were the highest among the 10 domestic airlines operating in the first half of last year, surpassing Korean Air (422 flights), T'way Air (315 flights), Jin Air (243 flights), Air Busan (227 flights), and Asiana Airlines (210 flights).

The maintenance delay rate for Jeju Air was 1.01%, 0.37 points higher than the overall average of 0.64%.

In 2023, Jeju Air also recorded the highest number of maintenance-related delays, with 943 incidents (524 domestic flights and 419 international flights). The maintenance delay rate for that year was 0.97%, 0.38 points higher than the overall average of 0.59%.

Industry analysts attribute the increase in maintenance delays to the rise in flight operations and prolonged flight hours following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jeju Air’s average monthly flight operation time surged from 174 hours in 2020 to 412 hours in 2023, with the third quarter of last year recording 418 hours.
