<Korean News> Jeju Airline plane explodes while landing at Muan Airport.

On the 29th, an aircraft attempting to land at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do veered off the runway and collided with the airport’s outer wall.



The aircraft, Jeju Air flight 7C 2216, departed from Bangkok, Thailand, and was scheduled to arrive in Muan.

A total of 181 people were onboard, including 175 passengers and 6 crew members.

Among the 175 passengers, 173 were confirmed to be Korean nationals, while the remaining two were identified as Thai women.


The Jeollanam-do Fire Department stated, "The cause of the accident at Muan Airport is suspected to be a bird strike or adverse weather conditions."


They further reported, "Currently, the confirmed death toll stands at 85. Of the 181 onboard, most are presumed dead, except for the two individuals who were rescued."
