The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), led by acting president Seo Young-chung, is introducing unique fall local cultural experiences in Korea, specifically for Japanese tourists.

In September this year, the number of Japanese visitors to Korea increased by 123.7% compared to the same month in 2019, with continued growth expected through October and November. Japanese tourists, known for their high rate of repeat visits, are often regarded as seasoned Korea travelers. To cater to these repeat visitors, the KTO is highlighting distinctly Korean experiences tied to specific times and regions, such as kimjang (traditional kimchi-making), autumn foliage, and seasonal foods, under the theme of experiencing the "real Korea."

To promote these activities, the KTO collaborated with Asahi TV's program "Mokomichi Hayami’s Travel Kitchen." Japanese actor Mokomichi Hayami explores Korean regional specialties, showcasing food and cooking experiences. Episodes include his food tour in Gwangju's Tteokgalbi Alley and a kimchi-making session in Haenam, Jeollanam-do, using local cabbages. The program captures the diverse appeal of Korea's southern provinces and will air three episodes by December 25, with additional availability on OTT platforms.
