Between 11:00 PM on the 3rd and midnight on the 4th, sales of canned goods, instant rice, bottled water, instant noodles, batteries, condiments, cooking ingredients, alcoholic beverages, cereal, bread, and first-aid supplies increased significantly.


On the 4th, industry representatives stated, "After the emergency declaration, each convenience store activated their online crisis response networks and closely monitored the situation until the state of emergency was lifted." They added, "Stores located in residential areas saw a temporary spike in purchases of essential items," and noted, "Based on accounts from frontline staff and store employees, demand was particularly high among customers in their 50s and 60s."
