A McDonald’s representative stated, “We are working to diversify our supply sources to address issues with raw material supplies,” and added, “We appreciate our customers’ patience as we restore our tomato supply. We will continue to deliver even better products and services.”

McDonald’s sources around 2,000 tons of tomatoes annually from regions like Gyeonggi and Chungcheong in a commitment to regional partnerships and high-quality ingredients.

However, due to this summer’s intense heat, tomato supplies were disrupted, and since the 15th of last month, some burger items have been sold without tomatoes.

Customers who purchased products without tomatoes were offered a complimentary drink coupon.

Lotteria also faced quality issues with its lettuce due to abnormal weather and has been mixing lettuce with cabbage since mid-last month. However, they emphasized that quality has returned to normal this month.

A Lotteria representative explained, “Because of the impact of abnormal weather, we temporarily couldn’t use lettuce that met our quality standards, so we used a mix of lettuce and cabbage. Now, however, our supply is back to normal.”
