<Korean News> Morning Temperatures Drop to -12°C as Cold Wave Continues.

ONLINE-KOREA

A cold wave is expected to continue for some time, with morning temperatures dropping as low as -12°C. The wind will also be strong, making the wind chill feel even colder.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) announced on the 19th that cold air from the northwest will lower temperatures below the average (average minimum temperature of -8 to 2°C, maximum temperature of 5 to 10°C) for the foreseeable future.

On the 20th, the morning minimum temperature will range from -12°C to -2°C, while the daytime maximum will be between 0°C and 6°C. The weather will generally be clear nationwide until the 21st, but occasional clouds will appear in Jeolla and Jeju Island. Cold weather is expected to continue until the 22nd due to the expansion of a cold continental high-pressure system from northern China.

Inland areas will see snow accumulation, and snow that melted during the day will refreeze overnight as temperatures drop, creating icy roads and dangerous black ice.

The KMA urged people to be particularly cautious about traffic safety and fall accidents due to the slippery conditions.

Strong winds of up to 55 km/h will affect most regions of the country until the 20th, with gusts of up to 70 km/h expected in some mountain areas. The KMA warned that delays in air travel are possible due to the strong winds, urging airport passengers to check flight information in advance.
