On the 14th, President Yun released this statement, saying, "It pains me to think that all of our past efforts might go to waste."

Regarding the political sector, he urged, "Now is the time to shift from the politics of recklessness and confrontation to a politics of deliberation and consideration. I ask for your interest and efforts to reform our political culture and systems."

He concluded his statement by saying, "I believe in the strength of our people. Together, let us all unite for the freedom, democracy, and prosperity of the Republic of Korea."

On the same day, the National Assembly passed an impeachment motion against President Yoon.

The National Assembly held a plenary session to vote on the "Impeachment Motion Against President Yun Suk-yeol," with 204 votes in favor, 85 votes against, 3 abstentions, and 8 invalid votes out of a total of 300.

For an impeachment motion to be passed, it requires a majority proposal from sitting members of the National Assembly and the support of at least two-thirds (200 out of 300) of the members.

As a result, President Yun’s duties were suspended approximately 2 years and 7 months after his inauguration on May 10, 2022. This marks the third time in South Korea's constitutional history that a presidential impeachment trial will be held.
