<Korean News>Railroad Workers' Union to Go on Indefinite Strike from 5th.

The Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) and the railway workers’ union failed to reach a compromise during last-minute negotiations held the day before the planned strike. As announced, the union will begin their strike at 9 a.m. on December 5.

According to KORAIL, the final round of talks, which took place on the afternoon of the 4th, ended without an agreement. Key issues such as wage increases, performance-based bonuses, and staffing shortages revealed significant differences in positions between the two parties.

This marks the first railway workers' strike in one year and three months, following the previous one in September last year.

KORAIL has pledged to mobilize all available resources to minimize inconvenience for passengers.

The company has established an emergency transport system led by the vice president and will operate a 24-hour crisis management headquarters.

Train services are expected to run at approximately 75% of the usual schedule for metropolitan commuter lines (over 90% during peak hours) and about 67% for KTX high-speed trains.

Additionally, KORAIL will enhance its passenger information services through the Korail Talk app and the official website. Passengers are strongly advised to check the updated schedules and consider alternative transportation options such as buses or flights.
