On the 12th, the city announced that it will begin work next month on designating the "redevelopment area around DDP" and formulating a redevelopment plan.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of next year, with the creation of a blueprint for the newly designated redevelopment area. The plan aims to transform the DDP area into a vibrant space that combines work, living, and entertainment.
Through the "2040 Seoul Urban Master Plan," the city has positioned the DDP area as a multi-cultural complex. Based on the "2030 Urban Housing Environment Improvement Plan," the city has re-designated the redevelopment area, which had previously been revoked, to systematically revitalize the aging areas around Dongdaemun. The plan includes practical spatial improvements to help visitors of DDP flow into the surrounding commercial areas.
In particular, through this initiative, the city plans to connect nearby green spaces, such as the Training Institute Park and other scattered green zones, creating a green ecological city center. Additionally, efforts will be made to revitalize industries and commerce, while preventing urban depopulation by introducing housing into the area.
