The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 4th that “Seoul Gourmet Week,” an event showcasing K-food that has captivated global palates, will take place from the 8th to the 14th at Nodeul Island and locations throughout Seoul.
This year’s theme, “A Week-long Culinary Journey through Seoul,” offers a variety of programs allowing visitors to explore Seoul’s unique food culture, where tradition and modernity blend harmoniously.
On the 8th, chef and culinary expert Hong Shin-ae will host a kimchi-making experience at Gyeongdong Market’s Youth Mall, aimed primarily at foreigners, with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon also participating to promote Korean food culture.
On the 9th and 10th, Nodeul Island will host the “Invitation to a Traveling Market (Seoul Gourmet Market),” where over 100 teams will provide unique culinary experiences, and workshops will allow participants to explore flavors from various regions across Korea.
On the 10th, the “Seoul Gourmet Awards” will be held at Nodeul Island Live House. Chefs featured in the “Seoul’s Top 100 Gourmet Selections,” along with industry professionals and domestic and international media, will attend the event.
The “Seoul’s Top 100 Gourmet Selections” is a guide curated by culinary experts to introduce Seoul’s unique dining culture to the world. The event will honor top chefs from each category and those who have made significant contributions to the development of Seoul’s culinary scene.
Additional programs include “An Exceptional Invitation to the Old Market,” where participants shop and cook together in a traditional market, and “A Unique Tasting Invitation,” a gourmet tour with culinary experts through Seoul’s distinctive neighborhoods like Seongsu and Seochon.
During the event, special menus will be offered at 120 selected locations, including restaurants featured in the Seoul Gourmet 100, department stores (Lotte, The Hyundai, Shinsegae), and Gyeongdong Market’s Youth Mall. Visitors can also enjoy a range of discounts.
