[Korean News] Seoul Tower and Tokyo Tower to Light Up Simultaneously on February 15 to Celebrate 60 Years of Korea-Japan Diplomatic Relations.

On February 15, South Korea and Japan will hold a simultaneous lighting event at Namsan Seoul Tower and Tokyo Tower to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korea-Japan diplomatic normalization.

The lighting ceremony at Namsan Seoul Tower will take place in the evening, with notable attendees including Kim Hong-kyun, South Korea’s First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, representing South Korea, and Koichi Mizushima, the Japanese

Ambassador to South Korea, representing Japan.


The event will feature:

  • Congratulatory speeches by representatives from both countries

  • An award ceremony for the winners of the Korea-Japan 60th Anniversary Commemorative Logo Contest

  • The official lighting ceremony


At the same time, a similar lighting event and ceremony will be held at Tokyo Tower, marking the historic milestone in bilateral relations.


Namsan Seoul Tower and Tokyo Tower are both iconic landmarks of their respective capitals, offering panoramic views and serving as popular tourist attractions. This synchronized illumination symbolizes the enduring friendship and diplomatic ties between South Korea and Japan.
