The Netflix original series Squid Game Season 2 fell short of winning the Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Series.
The honor of Best Drama Series went to the Japanese historical drama Shogun.
Squid Game 2 was nominated for Best Drama Series alongside Shogun, Netflix's The Diplomat, Prime Video's Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Apple TV+'s Slow Horses, and Peacock's The Day of the Jackal, but it did not win.
Squid Game 2 was the only Korean production nominated at this year’s Golden Globes.
Released globally on the 26th of last month, Squid Game 2 set a new record for the longest viewing hours in the first week in Netflix's history, surpassing the achievements of its predecessor.
However, some have suggested that its status as an incomplete series, with a third season yet to come, might have hindered its chances of winning the Golden Globe this year.
The TV series category at this year's Golden Globes was dominated by Shogun.
It won in all the categories it was nominated for, including Best Drama Series, Best Actor (Hiroyuki Sanada), Best Supporting Actor (Tadanobu Asano), and Best Actress (Anna Sawai), proving its prowess.
Shogun also triumphed at last year’s Primetime Emmy Awards, winning major categories such as Best Drama Series, Best Director, and Best Lead Actor and Actress, claiming a total of 18 awards.
It set a record for the most Emmys won in a single year and made history as the first non-English series to win Best Drama Series.
