The "ZOFGK" era of T1, praised as the best roster in the history of League of Legends esports, will come to an end this year.
On the 19th, T1 announced that its main top laner, Choi "Zeus" Woo-je, had parted ways with the team following the expiration of his contract. This marks the conclusion of the "GEOPEUGKE" era, which began on December 3, 2021, and lasted for 1,082 days.
"ZOFGK" refers to the core T1 players: Choi "Zeus" Woo-je, Moon "Oner" Hyeon-jun, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong, and Ryu "Keria" Min-seok.
Over three years, this roster remained intact, winning one LCK championship, finishing as runners-up four times, claiming one Esports World Cup victory, and securing two League of Legends World Championship (Worlds) titles. They cemented their status as one of the strongest teams in history.
Notably, the team reached the finals at Worlds for three consecutive years, achieving back-to-back victories last year and this year.
Except for Lee Sang-hyeok, all four players' contracts with T1 expired at the end of this year. T1 had set a goal to retain all players during the offseason. The organization succeeded in re-signing Ryu Min-seok, Moon Hyeon-jun, and Lee Min-hyeong, but ultimately failed to reach an agreement with Choi Woo-je.
Choi Woo-je is strongly rumored to be joining Hanwha Life Esports as his next destination.
Meanwhile, T1 officially announced its signing of Choi "Doran" Hyeon-joon, who played for Hanwha Life Esports this year, as its primary top laner for the 2025 season.
Choi Hyeon-joon debuted in 2019 with Griffin and has since played for DRX, KT Rolster, Gen.G Esports, and Hanwha Life Esports, collecting four LCK championship trophies, including this summer's victory.
