Last month, a survey revealed that ChatGPT was the most used generative AI application among South Koreans.
The usage time of generative AI, including ChatGPT, reached an all-time high.
According to the app and retail analytics service WiseApp Retail Goods, the number of domestic ChatGPT users last month reached 6.82 million, making it the most used generative AI app by smartphone users in the country.
Following in second place was SK Telecom's A. (2.45 million), third was Ryuten (2.32 million), fourth was Perplexity (590,000), with Microsoft's Copilot (310,000) and Claude (120,000) trailing behind.
The usage time of generative AI apps continues to set record highs, with monthly usage time increasing more than eightfold compared to last year.
The total usage time for these six apps was 1.1 billion minutes in December 2023, which surged to 9 billion minutes by December 2024.
The figure, which was only 300 million minutes until August last year, rose to 440 million minutes in September, 530 million minutes in October, and 670 million minutes in November.
