The mobile apps with the highest user growth rates this year were Toss, Coupang Eats, and ChatGPT, in that order.
According to the "2024 Mobile App Year-End Report" released on the 27th by WiseApp, Retail, and Goods, the app that gained the most users this year was the integrated financial management service Toss. In October, Toss reached 24.67 million users, an increase of 4.81 million compared to January.
Its "one app" strategy, which integrates banking, payments, securities, and other services, has been credited with attracting users.
The second most notable growth was seen in the delivery service Coupang Eats, which had 9.33 million users in October—3.89 million more than in January.
Following that was OpenAI's generative AI chatbot ChatGPT, which saw an increase of 3.64 million users during the same period. Its user count grew from 1.62 million in January to 5.26 million in October.
Coupang Eats leveraged its Wow Membership offering free delivery perks, while ChatGPT capitalized on advanced features like enhanced voice modes and real-time web search functionality to fuel growth.
Other apps making the "Top 10 Fastest Growing Apps" list included TikTok Lite (+3.29 million users), the Mobile Health Insurance Card (+2.93 million), Naver Map & Navigation (+2.89 million), Threads (+2.53 million), Coupang (+2.2 million), Kakao Pay (+2.18 million), and Pikmin Bloom (+2.13 million).
