<Korean News> Which Korean beer sold 28 bottles per second?

Hite Jinro announced that its flagship beer brand, "Terra," has surpassed a cumulative sales volume of 5.08 billion bottles.

Based on a 330mL standard, this figure equates to 28 bottles being sold every second, with total sales volume reaching 1.67 billion liters. This quantity is sufficient to fill 671 Olympic-sized swimming pools.


Launched in March 2019, Terra surpassed 1 million cases sold in just 39 days, setting the fastest sales record among Korean beer brands. Since its debut, it has consistently drawn public attention.

<Terra & Terra Light>

The launch of "Terra Light" in July of this year also contributed to the brand's growing sales.


Terra Light was developed to deliver a rich beer flavor, which is often difficult to achieve with light beers. The product’s production process involves extracting malt extract over four times longer than standard beers.


According to Nielsen Korea, Terra Light became the top-selling light beer in major national retail stores just one month after its launch. As of last month, it maintained a sales lead, with its volume exceeding that of the second-ranked brand by more than 1.5 times.


Oh Sung-taek, Executive Director of Hite Jinro’s Marketing Department, stated, "There is a growing trend, especially among the younger generation, to prioritize health while enjoying leisure. Terra Light has gained support as a healthier choice. Riding this momentum, we aim to lead new trends in the domestic beer market alongside Terra and pursue further growth through various initiatives."
