Chairman Chung Yong-jin of Shinsegae Group revealed on the 21st (local time) that he had a meeting with U.S. President elect Donald Trump.
After visiting Trump’s private residence at the Mar-a-Lago resort, Chairman Chung spoke with South Korean reporters at Atlanta Airport during his return trip, stating, "I met with President-elect Trump and spoke with him for about 10 to 15 minutes."
Chairman Chung also shared, "I had a meal with Mr. Trump, and at another time, we engaged in in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics." However, he added, "I cannot disclose the specific content of my conversation with the President-elect." He further commented, "I was asked various questions by Mr. Trump, but I find it difficult to discuss the details."
Since Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential election in November, Chairman Chung is reportedly the first South Korean politician, diplomat, or businessperson to have held a direct meeting with Mr. Trump and publicly disclosed this fact.
Chairman Chung stayed at Trump’s private Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, from the 16th until the morning of the previous day.
During his stay, it is reported that he met with several individuals, facilitated by an introduction from Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
