Starbucks to Provide Americano Coupons to All 510,000 South Korean Military Personnel



The South Korean Ministry of National Defense announced on the 8th that Vice Minister Kim Seong-ho and Shin Dong-woo, Head of Strategic Planning at Starbucks Korea, signed a business agreement on the 6th at the Ministry of National Defense building in Yongsan. The agreement aims to enhance the welfare of military personnel and support the employment of those scheduled to be discharged.


Starbucks will provide Americano coupons to all 510,000 military personnel through a dedicated military application by next month.


On October 1st, Armed Forces Day, Starbucks stores near major military units will use cup holders with messages of support for military personnel.

Additionally, Starbucks will visit frontline units to provide beverages to over 10,000 soldiers and offer employment counseling to those scheduled to be discharged.

Since 2022, Starbucks has participated in the Military Employment Expo, supporting the enhancement of employment skills and stable social integration for those scheduled to be discharged.



Shin, Head of Strategic Planning at Starbucks Korea, said, “We hope this meaningful collaboration will effectively convey our gratitude to military personnel and help enhance their employment skills before discharge.” Vice Minister Kim of the Ministry of National Defense also stated, “We hope that the welfare benefits, such as beverage provision by Starbucks, will boost the morale of soldiers in remote areas who are often excluded from various cultural benefits.”
