Soon, the maximum length of YouTube Shorts, YouTube’s short-form video format, will be extended to three minutes.
Recently, YouTube announced on its official blog that starting on the 15th of this month, the length of YouTube Shorts will be increased from the current 60 seconds to 3 minutes.
Videos uploaded before the 15th will not be affected, and the new rule will apply to videos with a square or vertical aspect ratio uploaded on or after that date.
The company stated, "This has been one of the most requested features from creators, and it will allow them to tell their stories with more freedom." They also mentioned that they are "working to improve recommendation features for longer Shorts in the coming months."
In addition, YouTube recently simplified its player design, putting creators' content at the forefront, so viewers can better focus on the content they love.
They also introduced a new feature where you can use the template of your favorite Shorts. By tapping "Remix" on a Short and selecting "Use this template," you can create your own Short using the same structure.
Additionally, YouTube announced plans to introduce a "See fewer Shorts" option, which will allow users to customize their experience based on their preferences. By clicking on the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the Shorts grid in the Home feed, users can temporarily reduce the number of Shorts displayed.
This update will be applied in South Korea starting from November 5.
