Ahead of President Yoon Suk-yeol’s impeachment ruling on April 4, police issued a Level 2 emergency alert across Seoul at 9 a.m. on April 3. On the day of the verdict, authorities plan to implement the highest Level 1 emergency status nationwide, mobilizing 100% of police forces.

Approximately 14,000 officers from 210 police units, including detectives and special task forces, will be deployed. Units will be stationed at key facilities such as the National Assembly, the presidential office in Yongsan, the Hannam-dong residence, and foreign embassies. A 150-meter radius around the Constitutional Court has been designated a protest-free zone, including one-person protests.
Sixteen schools in Seoul will be closed on the day of the ruling, and nearby bank branches will shut down or strengthen emergency operations. Several companies near Gwanghwamun will implement remote work. Police have pledged thorough safety measures to prevent clashes or potential terrorist threats near the court.
Please be cautious, as unexpected situations may occur in this area.
