【Korean News】JYP Girl Group[NiziU]’s Japanese Mini Album ‘AWAKE’ Takes the Charts by Storm!

JYP Entertainment's girl group NiziU has dominated various Japanese music charts with their first Japanese mini-album, ‘AWAKE’.

On February 5, NiziU released their first Japanese mini-album ‘AWAKE’ along with the title track ‘YOAKE’. The album recorded 191,047 points and secured the No.1 spot on the Oricon Weekly Combined Album Ranking for the week of February 17, 2025 (covering 02.03-02.09).

With this achievement, NiziU has now topped this ranking a total of five times, following their pre-debut mini-album ‘Make you happy’, first full album ‘U’, second full album ‘COCONUT’, and first Japanese EP ‘RISE UP’.

Additionally, they also ranked No.1 on the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking for the fourth consecutive time, making them the third female group in history to achieve this milestone. The last time this record was set was in January 2018 by Nogizaka46, making it a historic feat in nearly seven years and one month. Furthermore, they also topped the Oricon Weekly Digital Album Ranking, securing a triple crown on Oricon’s weekly charts. On Billboard Japan’s Top Album Sales, Hot Albums, and Download Albums charts for February 12, NiziU swept the top positions, further proving their overwhelming popularity.

AWAKE’ marks NiziU's first-ever mini-album since their official debut in December 2020. As its title suggests, meaning "to awaken", the album embodies a fresh perspective and strong determination. The title track ‘YOAKE’ conveys the growth and independence of the nine members as they embark on a journey into a wider world.

The album also includes ‘AlwayS’, a ballad written and composed by Motoki Omori from Mrs. GREEN APPLE, as well as unit tracks ‘CRUSH’ and ‘Made of Love’, offering a diverse range of eight songs.

Currently, NiziU is holding their first-ever winter tour, ‘NiziU Live with U 2024-2025 “AWAKE”’, covering eight cities with a total of 18 performances, enjoying tremendous success.
