Airbnb Korea announced that starting from the 2nd of next month, newly listed accommodations on the platform will be required to submit business registration information and a business registration certificate.
This move is a proactive measure aimed at improving the platform's credibility, following criticism that many accommodations were previously unregistered.
Existing properties already listed on Airbnb will be given a one-year grace period, during which they must submit the required documents by the end of next year. Failure to do so will result in their removal from the platform.
At the "Airbnb Media Roundtable" held on the 24th in Seoul's Jung District, Seo Gayoung, Country Manager of Airbnb Korea, announced, "Starting from the 2nd of next month, new accommodations will not be able to list on the platform without submitting business registration information and the registration certificate."
She further added, "Airbnb has established a systematic support system to ensure the safety of accommodations," explaining that "suspected fraudulent listings will be blocked before registration, and the platform's robust review system is in place to minimize risks."
