Jeollanam-do’s Jindo County announced on the 7th that, in response to the era of 15 million pet owners, they have completed the trademark and design registration for the Jindo dog plush toy “DOLBACK” and will release it in November.
“DOLBACK” is a nickname for the Jindo dog and is an abbreviation of “the white dog that returned,” a term that is very familiar to the public. It also carries the meaning of “doll,” which is the same as the English pronunciation.
The DOLBACK plush toys are scheduled to be sold at the Jindo Premium Goods Hall and Jindo Arirang Mall, both of which are directly operated by Jindo County.
The Jindo dog was designated as a Natural Monument in 1962 with the enactment of the Cultural Heritage Protection Act. In 1967, it received national-level protection with the establishment of the Special Act on the Protection and Promotion of Korean Jindo Dogs.
In 2005, the Jindo dog was registered as a breed with the UK Kennel Club (KC) and the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI). Known for its exceptional loyalty and homing instinct, once it recognizes someone as its owner, it remains devoted forever. These traits make it a beloved breed among many dog enthusiasts.
