On the 15th, Hanni of the South Korean idol group NewJeans attended the National Assembly as a witness for the Environment and Labor Committee’s audit.
Hanni arrived at the National Assembly around 1:25 PM in a black Carnival van. Smiling as she exited the vehicle, she did not respond to questions from the press, including inquiries about the reason for her attendance or whether she had faced any disadvantages within her company following her allegations. She entered the main building of the Assembly accompanied by security personnel.
After receiving her access pass inside, when asked by reporters if she had a message for her fans, Hanni briefly responded, "There's no need to say anything because my fans already understand how I feel."
Hanni participated in the audit as a witness regarding the issue of "bullying and workplace harassment" in the idol industry. Kim Joo-young, CEO of NewJeans' management company ADOR, was also selected as a witness.
The workplace harassment allegations involving NewJeans surfaced during a YouTube live broadcast on September 11th. In the broadcast, Hanni claimed that while waiting in the hallway of HYBE’s headquarters, a manager from another HYBE subsidiary, BELIFT LAB, was overheard telling someone to "ignore her" loud enough for other NewJeans members to hear, which she interpreted as workplace bullying.
A formal complaint regarding this incident has also been filed with the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
